Job summary

Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation is hiring a cashier to deliver outstanding customer experiences at the front counter. You will operate the POS system and help ensure a positive shopping environment in a busy store setting.

The role includes assisting customers, handling transactions, answering inquiries, and promoting add-on sales, while maintaining a clean, organized sales floor. Prior knowledge of sporting goods is a plus, with on-site work and routine shift variations.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess basic organizational and/or applicable math skills.
• Detail-oriented and reliable.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of sporting goods is a plus.
• Subject to E-Verify.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by welcoming and assisting customers during entry and exit.
• Direct sales associates using the PA system.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales.
• Cash-handling and bagging of purchased merchandise.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
