Essential Functions

- This position requires the ability to safely handle firearms and adhere to all company, state, and federal firearms regulations. Provide legendary customer service by greeting, consulting, and assisting customers in finding merchandise and making buying decisions.
- Process firearms transactions efficiently, in accordance with internal policies, procedures, and applicable law. Initiate all 4473 forms with customers and conduct final checks of all applicable forms before transferring firearms.
- Legally acquire and dispose of firearms, complying with ATF, state, and local laws, including completing required forms, conducting background checks, and adhering to waiting periods and regulations on straw purchases.
- Assist with the receipt of firearms, complete all related forms accurately, perform firearms audits, mount optics, and prepare firearms for retail sale.
- Maintain thorough product knowledge of C-A-L Ranch Stores products to assist customers in making informed purchasing decisions by evaluating their needs and recommending appropriate products.
- Advise customers on equipment types for specific purposes, such as fishing poles or firearms calibers and makes.
- Explain equipment care and relevant fish and game laws. Inform customers about hunting, fishing, or camping areas and associated costs.
- Handle the sale of fish and game licenses and complete related paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with customers about the C-A-L Ranch Credit Card Program.
- Maintain visual standards through up-keep and cleaning, including re-stocking and re-merchandising.
- Take inventory, operate the computer system for inventory management and cash balancing.
- Requisition merchandise, research availability using the database, and process orders.
- Complete weekly firearm audits.
- Assist in training new employees and other associates.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier loads using tools like a hand truck.
- Watch safety videos and perform duties following safety training protocols.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance at the store, with work schedules planned weekly.
- Pass a thorough background check to handle firearms and be at least 18 years old.
- Understand and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
