University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a nine-month (paid over 12 months), tenured-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Sport Management. The department seeks candidates with a strong research agenda who can teach sport management and other courses within the RST core.

The start date is August 16, 2027, with a budgeted salary range of $75,000 to $95,000 at the Assistant level and $85,000 to $110,000 at the Associate level.

Qualifications

• PhD in sport management or affiliated field at appointment.
• Evidence of strong publication record in top-tier journals in sport management or affiliated fields.
• Evidence of ability to secure external research funding.
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in core subject areas (e.g., marketing, management, research methods).
• Ability to mentor doctoral and master's students, as well as undergraduates.
• Ability to contribute to university and field via academic, industry, or public service/engagement.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in sport management (broadly defined).
• Build collaborative research partnerships within the department, college, and across campus.
• Advise and direct student research (theses and dissertations).
• Instruct undergraduate and graduate courses.
• Contribute to the department's curriculum.
• Seek and secure external research funding.
• Serve on department, college, and university committees.
• Engage in professional and public service activities.
