Job summary

Verizon in Warwick, RI is seeking a Field Operations Technician to install, splice, test, repair and maintain the fiber network that keeps customers connected.

You’ll work as part of a team, read engineering plans, climb ladders and poles, and support customers with safe, reliable service while complying with safety standards.

Scheduled weekly hours are 40, with field assessments and Verizon Job Fit Tests. This role requires a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Related Associate Degree or 2+ years' relevant experience.
• Completed Verizon Technician Program or similar programs covering electrical or lineman training.

• Reading and interpreting engineering plans and vendor specifications.

What you’ll be doing…

Installing, splicing, testing, repairing and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of customers connected. Be part of a team that makes a profound impact every single day by ensuring that our fiber-optic network performs reliably. Because here, better matters.Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Connecting, disconnecting, testing, repairing, maintaining, installing and rearranging Company and customer-provided equipment, inside wiring, and wires at poles, underground or building terminals.

• Making necessary preparations required for splicing, rearranging and terminating cable conductors.

• Installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing access lines for all types of equipment and technology.

• Operating trucks and equipment needed to perform work operations in a safe manner.

• Reading and interpreting engineering plans and vendor specifications.

• Climbing ladders and poles, working aloft, perceiving differences in wire and cable colors, and distinguishing audio tones.

• Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business.
