Job summary

North Sky Communications is hiring a Copper Splicer II to connect and maintain copper networks, ensuring reliable phone and internet services. You will splice and repair connections, perform tests, and troubleshoot post-installation circuits in field environments.

The role requires at least two years of copper splicing experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a DOT physical. You’ll work at various heights and contribute to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of copper splicing experience.
• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Must pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a valid medical card.
• Must be 18 years or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform copper cable upgrades and splicing tasks both aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network circuit post-installation.
• Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Safely work at different heights, underground to above ground.
• Repair out-of-service drops or cable cuts as needed.
• Provide guidance to other splicers when required.
• Complete basic daily vehicle maintenance and document work in daily production reports.

What You’ll Do

• Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Repair out-of-service drops or cable cuts as necessary
• Provide guidance to other splicers, as needed
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• At least two years of copper splicing experience

Additional Qualifications

• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure

Physical Abilities & Exposures

• Routinely: operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, repetitive hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladder, keyboard and mouse
