Job summary

North Sky Communications, LLC is seeking a Splicer II Copper to build and maintain critical copper networks across Oregon. Based out of Sherwood, OR, this role involves aerial and underground splicing, testing, and repairs to ensure dependable telecommunications services for communities served.

The position offers travel throughout Oregon with comprehensive benefits and ongoing mentorship from senior splicers.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
• Valid State driver's license (no provisional) with acceptable driving record.
• Able to pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a valid medical card.
• At least two years of copper splicing experience.
• Certified pole climber preferred.
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure.

Responsibilities

• Splicing & cable operations: Perform complex aerial and underground copper cable splicing, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Testing & troubleshooting: Test, activate, and troubleshoot circuit networks post-installation to ensure optimal performance.
• Quality & compliance: Ensure all work meets company, customer, and industry standards.
• Elevated & underground work: Safely perform work at heights and in confined spaces/manholes.
• System repairs: Diagnose and repair out-of-service drops and cable cuts.
• Leadership: Mentor and provide guidance to entry-level splicers.
• Fleet & equipment maintenance: Run routine vehicle checks and manage tool inventories.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate daily production reporting, map markups, and material usage.
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Do

• Splicing & Cable Operations: Perform complex aerial and underground copper cable splicing, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Testing & Troubleshooting: Test, activate, and troubleshoot circuit networks post-installation to ensure optimal performance.
• Quality & Compliance: Execute all work strictly in accordance with company, customer, and industry standards.
• Elevated & Underground Work: Safely navigate working at various heights (via bucket trucks or climbing) and in confined spaces/manholes.
• System Repairs: Rapidly diagnose and repair out-of-service drops and cable cuts.
• Leadership: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to entry-level splicers.
• Fleet & Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine daily vehicle checks (fluids, safety gear) and maintain tool inventories.
• Documentation: Accurate daily production reporting, map markups, and precise tracking of material usage.
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• At least two years of copper splicing experience

Additional Qualifications

• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure

Physical Abilities & Exposures

• Routinely: operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, repetitive hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladder, keyboard and mouse
