Job summary

ByVerTek in South Central Florida is seeking a Fiber Splicer with 2–4 years of fiber splicing experience to join our field teams. You will splice fiber optic cables in various counts, troubleshoot network issues and support ISP/OSP terminations while working in manholes, hand-holes, and outdoor locations.

This role requires color vision, physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds, and the ability to work aloft from ladders or bucket trucks.

Qualifications

• 2+ years fiber splicing experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret outside plant facility records and engineering prints.
• Knowledge of hot cuts and ribbon splicing preferred.
• Able to distinguish colors and work aloft from ladders, platforms, poles and bucket trucks.

Responsibilities

• Perform light labor such as lifting manhole covers and barricading.

Job description

ByVerTek is now seekinga Fiber Splicer with a minimum of 2-4 years of experience splicing fiber cables from 12ct to 864ct as well as troubleshooting both as required. Includes various physical requirements and ability to distinguish all colors, ability to work aloft from ladders, platforms, poles and bucket trucks. Join us and be a key player in expanding and optimizing our fiber optic network to provide reliable connectivity to our customers in South Central Florida.

What You'll Do:

• Splicing fiber optic cable large and small counts and Ribbon fiber
• Light labor including lifting manhole covers and barricading open manholes
• Working with ISP/OSP terminations
• Working in, from and around hand-holes and manholes

Qualifications:

• 19 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• 2 or more years of fiber splicing experience
• Knowledge of hot cuts and solid OTDR testing
• Ribbon splicing knowledge preferred
• Experience in how to read and interpret outside and subscriber plant facility records and engineering schematic work prints

Additional qualifications (if applicable):

• Working knowledge of direct termination of fiber-optic connectors including mechanical, anaerobic, epoxy polish, heat cured as well as pigtail splicing methods
• Working knowledge of ISP/OSP fiber optics terminations in splicing products in regard to appropriate application
• Working knowledge of analog and digital transmission

Working Conditions & Exposure:

• Primarily field-based role requiring regular travel to job sites.
• Work performed outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, and moderate noise levels.
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on project needs.

• Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods.
• Ability to safely navigate active construction environments.
• Capability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as part of normal field activities.
• Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching during inspections and site supervision.
• Visual acuity sufficient to read construction drawings, maps, and digital displays.
• Manual dexterity required to operate tools, equipment, and computer devices.
• Ability to wear and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and protective eyewear and lead safe construction processes by example to prevent injury prevention (i.e. vehicle use, construction processes, bending and lifting safety).
