Job summary

Lighthouse Mission Ministries in Washington state seeks a Part-time Spiritual Care Coordinator to support recovery and shelter programs. You will work with the Director of Spiritual Care to provide Christian spiritual guidance, facilitate activities, and respond to crises.

Position: Part-time Spiritual Care Coordinator

Department: Director of Spiritual Care

Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 8:00am-1:00pm, subject to change

Position Description: Spiritual Care Coordinator works directly with the Director of Spiritual Care to support recovery and shelter programs at Lighthouse Mission Ministries (LMM). The primary focus of this role is to help maintain an environment of spiritual healing, growth, and restoration. The Spiritual Care Coordinator will assist in providing Christian spiritual guidance for residents, facilitating program activities, providing support during times of crisis, and fostering positive relationships within the church community.

Compensation to Include:

Washington Paid Sick Leave, 403(b) contribution, Employee Assistance Program, bonus pay for staff who spend holidays with residents, ongoing training, and professional development.

Responsibilities:

Offer Spiritual Care to Residents (Approximately 70% of work time)

  • Work with residents 1:1 and in group settings to provide additional skills and/ or resources needed to empower each individual with regard to Christian character development.
  • Provide Biblical encouragement, prayer, and guidance in addressing and supporting residents’ holistic health.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating regular group classes, chapel services and bible studies in collaboration with program directors.
  • Record information that is appropriate and relevant to the resident’s care plan, recovery journey, and spiritual/ religious goals in the database. Collaborate with and ensure the program team is aware of relevant spiritual needs and concerns.
  • Refer residents to the appropriate staff person at LMM or elsewhere for any matters outside of those relating to their spiritual health.
  • Ensure spiritual activities operate consistently with LMM’s mission, vision, and values. Uphold high standards of moral and ethical conduct at all times. Consult supervisor in areas where ethical/ moral decision-making is unclear.
  • Serve as a mandated reporter in accordance with LMM policy and applicable law.

Provide Support to Community (Approximately 20% of work time)

  • Assist the Director with preparation and facilitation of chapel services, memorial services, holiday observances, and other special ministry events.
  • Help coordinate approved volunteers, church partners, speakers, and ministry resources for assigned activities.
  • Occasional weekends and holidays may be required
Team Collaboration and Administration | Approximately 10%
  • Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive matters and utilize the Confidentiality and Disclosure form when working with residents and Release of Information forms when working with outside agencies.
  • Collaborate across departments to develop and implement initiatives that will foster an environment of spiritual health under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Maintain an agreed-upon schedule that includes resident-facing hours, ministry activities, documentation time, supervision, and recurring meetings.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Spiritual Care for supervision, case consultation, ministry planning, and professional development.
  • Attend staff or department meetings and participate in training as requested and appropriate to the part-time schedule.
  • Maintain ministry supplies, attendance information, calendars, and other records for assigned activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope and scheduled hours of the position.
Organizational Relationships:
  • Works across departments, and with a variety of staff, partners, volunteers, apprentices, and interns.
  • Reports directly to the Director of Spiritual Care.
Required Qualifications:

A combination of education, professional, and personal experiences that demonstrate the ability to fulfill all aspects of the job description. Including a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology (preferred), Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent lived/professional experience working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, or addiction.

  • A passion for Jesus and making the Gospel known through mercy ministry. Demonstrated spiritual maturity, an active church/ prayer life, compassionate heart, and the ability to work with a grace-based attitude. Must be in agreement with the Statement of Faith and Life & Personal Covenant.
  • Have expertise in and preferably a personal connection to the issues of homelessness, poverty, addiction, domestic violence, and recovery.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with program guests and volunteers while also maintaining professional boundaries. Sensitivity to diversity in all forms is required.
  • Commitment to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suite software and ability to work with internal client databases as needed.
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment criminal background screenings and comply with our drug-free workplace policies.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
  • Sedentary work combined with regular movement (sitting ~70%, walking ~15%, standing ~15%).
  • Ability to travel between LMM locations and access and navigate each department at LMM facilities.
  • Ability to rapidly deal with emergency situations. Intermittent high stress environment.
  • Both inside and outside activities regardless of weather
