Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
• Experience with composite materials and architecture (carbon/graphite).
• Knowledge of wet layup, bagging, Kevlar, fiberglass and epoxy resins.
• Experience using hand tools and small tools for layup and shaping.

Responsibilities

• Build composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composites.
• Follow drawings, process specifications and QC requirements to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
• Perform multi-tasking and multi-machine operation as applicable.
• Work on platforms up to ten feet above ground and in confined/overhead spaces.
• Maintain a clean working environment and collaborate with teammates.
• Operate technology like lasers, digital vacuum gauges and computers.
• Use hand tools to form and contour lay-up and use small tools for finishing.

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit ("Spirit Defense"). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Position Responsibilities

• Work within a team and independently to build composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composite materials
• Work to instructions from drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, and established processes and procedures, to assure the timely delivery of quality products to the customer
• Perform multi-tasking and multi-machine operation where applicable
• Work on platforms up to ten feet above the ground
• Work in confined spaces
• Work over head
• Work within a team environment
• Proficient use of technology i.e. computer, phones, laser projection, digital vacuum gauges
• Use hand pressure and small tools to form and contour lay-up
• Ability to use tools such as scissors, knives, pushing tools, markers, and other small tools
• Maintain a clean working environment and clean as you go

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks. Majority of new hires will be hired on 2nd shift.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance and Customer Program Access

Summary Pay Range: $22.52/hour, with potential to earn up to $37.40/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
