Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems is seeking a skilled technician to build composite structures and assemblies using carbon and other materials in Wichita, KS. The role supports the Defense Business Unit with strict adherence to drawings, specs and safety standards.

Candidates should be able to work 2nd shift, hold an active U.S. Secret Clearance or higher, and be willing to participate in a union environment with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Build composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composites.
• Follow drawings, process specs and quality requirements to ensure timely, quality delivery.
• Perform multi-tasking and operate multiple machines as needed.
• Work on platforms up to ten feet above the ground and in confined spaces.
• Use hand tools and measurement devices to lay up and finish parts.

Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

• Work within a team and independently to build composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composite materials
• Work to instructions from drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, and established processes and procedures, to assure the timely delivery of quality products to the customer
• Perform multi-tasking and multi-machine operation where applicable
• Work on platforms up to ten feet above the ground
• Work in confined spaces
• Work over head
• Work within a team environment
• Proficient use of technology i.e. computer, phones, laser projection, digital vacuum gauges
• Use hand pressure and small tools to form and contour lay-up
• Ability to use tools such as scissors, knives, pushing tools, markers, and other small tools
• Maintain a clean working environment and clean as you go

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks. Majority of new hires will be hired on 2ndshift.
• This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
• Special Program Access (for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship).
