Job summary

The University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute is seeking a compassionate Clinical Nurse II to join the Inpatient Spinal Cord Injury Unit. You will deliver independent, patient-centered care and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support recovery and independence.

This role offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus and opportunities to mentor staff, lead unit initiatives, and participate in quality improvement activities while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Maryland RN licensure or eligibility under MD Board of Nursing Compact.
• Associate's degree required; BSN preferred.
• One year nursing experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Up-to-date mandatory training and classes.
• Maintenance of 10 contact hours of education every two years.
• Member of a professional organization.
• Recent applicable clinical experience in a comparable setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent, evidence-based nursing care to spinal cord injury patients.
• Coordinate patient care across the interdisciplinary team.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care to maximize outcomes and independence.
• Mentor nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members.
• Take on unit leadership roles, including charge nurse when assigned.
• Ensure accountability for patient and family outcomes during episodes of care.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers and other professionals.
