Job summary

Sauer Brands, Inc. in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Machine Operator to safely set up, operate, monitor, and clean spice production equipment to ensure products are made accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with quality, food safety, sanitation, and safety standards.

The role requires 3-5 years of machine operation experience in production or food manufacturing, a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to stand, bend, reach, lift up to 30 lbs., and the ability to pass a background

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years of experience in machine operation in production, packaging, or food manufacturing.
• Able to operate and monitor production equipment, follow work instructions, report equipment, quality, or safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate spice blending, filling, labeling, sealing, packaging, or case-packing equipment.
• Perform start-up checks, line clearances, basic changeovers, and routine equipment adjustments.
• Monitor equipment performance, product flow, weights, packaging quality, lot codes, labels, and finished cases for accuracy and quality.
• Identify and resolve minor jams or issues when trained; report malfunctions, safety concerns, or quality issues to supervisor or maintenance team.
• Follow batch records, formulas, work instructions, GMPs, allergen controls, sanitation procedures, and food safety requirements.
• Accurately complete required production, quality, downtime, and cleaning documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with equipment cleaning and sanitation.
• Work safely, wear required PPE, and support team goals through clear communication and dependable performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
