Function

The speech therapist's responsibilities include performing patient assessments, developing individual treatment plans, liaising with family members and healthcare professionals, administering therapy, monitoring progress, and informing patients and families of new treatments and techniques.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in speech therapy or speech-language pathology
  • Relevant license and certification
  • Experience with specific disorders and age groups may be required
  • Understanding of speech-related disorders and treatments
  • Familiarity with database management software
  • Excellent relationship-building skills
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to conduct research and attend conferences
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  1. Assess, diagnose, screen, and prevent language, speech, and swallowing disorders.
  2. Communicate with patients and liaise with their families, physicians, and teachers to design effective treatment plans.
  3. Utilize established and innovative therapies to provide optimal care.
  4. Stay updated with field advancements through conferences, research, and networking.
  5. Educate patients and families on speech disorders and therapies.
  6. Maintain detailed notes on patient history and progress.
  7. Mentor and conduct workshops for speech therapy students.
  8. Evaluate patient progress and adjust therapy programs as needed.
  9. Read, write, and speak English sufficiently to fulfill job requirements.
  10. Make independent decisions and solve practical problems based on instructions and situations.
  11. Listen actively and evaluate social situations objectively and fairly.
  12. Adhere to community policies for safety, infection control, emergency response, and confidentiality (HIPAA).
  13. Comply with all company policies, including resident rights and abuse prevention.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
