Speech Therapist – PRN (As Needed) – Florence County

Provide speech therapy services in a home health setting, liaising with patients, families, physicians, and agency personnel while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional image and deliver excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co‑workers.
• Administer speech therapy services in accordance with the physician's written orders.
• Interact daily with patients, family members, agency personnel, and physicians.
• Report to the Team Clinical Manager and the Director of Clinical Services, McLeod Home Health.
• Manage own schedule, attend required trainings, and meet all attendance and reporting obligations.
• Apply knowledge of state therapy laws, federal regulations (Title XVIII, Part 405, JCAHO), and other pertinent regulatory issues.
• Use conflict‑resolution techniques and maintain high standards of customer relations.
• Understand agency services, referral systems, and community resources available to clients.
• Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, writing, and computer skills.
• Exhibit excellent organizational skills, adaptability, initiative, and independent judgment.
• Apply critical thinking and problem‑solving skills in daily tasks.
• Operate office equipment, maintain manual dexterity for clinical care, and adhere to hearing and eyesight requirements.
• Perform moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, bending, lifting, or carrying objects up to 50 pounds, and drive when necessary.
• Use personal vehicle for travel to remote or rural sites when company transportation is unavailable.
• Assume responsibility for safety in all settings, including home visits where conditions may be cramped or require special accommodations.

Qualifications

• At least six months of experience in a home health or other healthcare setting, or successful completion of an accredited Master's program in Speech‑Language Pathology with a Clinical Fellowship Year in progress, or attainment of a Certificate of Clinical Competency.
• Typical preference for an accredited Master's degree; a Bachelor's degree is acceptable with a completed Clinical Fellowship Year.
• Current valid South Carolina driver’s license and automobile insurance as required by law.
• Eligible for company fleet vehicle insurance policy (minimum age 21).
• BLS certification; possession of professional liability insurance is encouraged.
• Ability to drive safely and handle safety issues for staff and patients across all settings.
