Responsibilities

The Speech Therapist in Home Health is responsible for assessing and evaluating patient care needs related to speech and language disorders, as well as functional training in communication, swallowing, and cognitive impairments.

Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by state laws, in accordance with the plan of care, and in coordination with other healthcare team members.

Evaluates the patient's level of function using diagnostic and prognostic tests and assists physicians in developing the therapy plan of care.

Treats patients to communicate effectively, expressing thoughts according to their condition, following acceptable standards of practice.

Instructs patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members in areas of speech therapy participation.

Education and Experience

License Requirements:

  • Must be currently licensed in Speech Therapy in the state of practice
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must have a current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation
