Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified Per Diem Speech Therapist in Somerville, NJ. This role will provide assessments to inpatients in our Acute Care Hospital as well as outpatient services.

Essential Functions:
  • Administers comprehensive diagnostic evaluations.
  • Identifies and assesses communication and/or swallowing disorders by evaluating etiology, case history, and test results.
  • Counsels patient/families regarding findings, treatment goals, progress, referrals, etc.
  • Interprets and discusses findings with physicians and determines the need for additional referrals.
  • Provides thorough treatment plans and appropriate therapy.
  • Prepares clear, accurate, and comprehensive documentation including findings, impressions, recommendations, and progress notes.
  • Compiles accurate statistics, insurance forms, and charge sheets as necessary.
  • Promotes interdisciplinary consultation, completes continuing education for licensure and professional growth, and provides in-service presentations as appropriate.
  • Responds timely to professional concerns of a non-clinical nature (e.g., phone calls, student needs, correspondence).
  • Maintains positive guest relations.
  • Provides peer review, supervises clinical fellows or student interns.
  • Applies knowledge of growth and development over the lifespan.
  • Provides age-appropriate care based on patient data and age-specific health care needs.
