Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Speech Therapist for Deaconess Homecare, part of the Optum family, to assess and treat speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive needs in home health care.

You will participate in developing treatment plans, delivering therapy, and monitoring progress, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support patients and families in diverse home settings.

Qualifications

• Licensed in Speech Therapy in the state of residence.
• Current driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to dependable transportation or public transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by state laws governing speech therapy, in accordance with the plan of care and in coordination with the health care team.
• Evaluates the patient’s function using diagnostic and prognostic tests; assists physician in therapy plan of care development.
• Treats patients to facilitate effective communication according to patient condition and standards of practice.
• Observes, records, and reports patient responses and changes in condition to supervising nurse or physician.
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and health-care team members on areas of speech therapy participation.
• Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition.
