Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, through its Optum Home Health team, is posting opportunities for Speech Therapists to assess and treat speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive impairments in home health settings in Maryland. You will develop treatment plans, deliver interventions, and monitor progress with patients and families.

Multiple schedules are available (full-time, part-time, and PRN). Requires state licensure, CPR certification, and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

Licensed in Speech Therapy in the state of residence
Current CPR certification
Current driver's license, vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation

Responsibilities

Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by state laws governing speech therapy, in accordance with the plan of care, and in coordination with other health care team members
Evaluates the patient's function using diagnostic and prognostic tests; assists physician in therapy plan of care
Treats patients to communicate effectively by expressing thoughts according to patient condition
Observes, records, and reports patient responses to treatment and changes in condition to supervising nurse/physician
Instructs patient, family and caregiver in areas of speech therapy they can participate
