Responsibilities

The Speech Therapist in Home Health assesses and evaluates patient needs related to speech and language disorders, communication, swallowing, and cognitive impairments.

• Provide services within the scope of practice defined by state laws, in accordance with the care plan, and in coordination with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate patient function using diagnostic and prognostic tests; assist physicians in developing the therapy plan of care.
• Treat patients to improve communication, expressing thoughts effectively based on their condition, following standards of practice.
• Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members in speech therapy interventions.

Education and Experience

License Requirements:

• Must be currently licensed as a Speech Therapist in Alabama
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation
