Responsibilities

The Speech Therapist in Home Health assesses and evaluates patient needs related to speech and language disorders, communication, swallowing, and cognitive impairments. Based on this, the therapist develops treatment plans, performs interventions to improve patient well-being, and monitors progress.

• Provide services within the scope of practice as defined by state laws, in accordance with the care plan, and in coordination with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate patient function using diagnostic and prognostic tests; assist physicians in developing therapy plans.
• Treat patients to improve communication skills according to accepted standards of practice.
• Observe, document, and report patient responses and condition changes to supervisors.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members on speech therapy topics.

Education and Experience

License Requirements:

• Must be currently licensed in Speech Therapy in the state of employment
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle
