Huntsville Hospital is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist responsible for evaluating and treating patients with speech and language disorders. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient care, focusing on pediatric populations and requires certification by the Alabama Board of Examiners.
The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluation and treatment of inpatient and outpatients with a variety of diagnoses. Inpatient responsibilities will focus on evaluation of patients' swallowing dysfunction (bedside evaluations and Modified Barium Swallow Studies) as well as speech and language function. Outpatient responsibilities will consist of evaluation and treatment of speech and language skills of primarily pediatric population. Works with patients and their families, the Speech-Language Pathologist utilizes various activities and exercises to aide patients with disorders in production, reception, and perception of speech and language and to help these persons to reach their greatest physical and vocational potential.
Education:
Current certification or eligible for Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology. Current member of American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
Experience: None required.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Complete hospital and departmental orientation. Ability to manage a sometimes stressful work environment subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Ability and willingness to work long, irregular hours. Work level is light to medium. Independent in use of speech Pathology equipment.
