POSITION TITLE

Early Intervention Speech Therapist

Job Description Summary

The Early Intervention Speech Therapist is directly supervised by the Early Intervention Program Officer is responsible for providing speech therapy services in early care or education settings to eligible children in various sites within the City of Pittsburgh.

Essential Functions

  • Provides therapy to students' ages 3-5 years old in a variety of settings, in accordance with their IEP.
  • Attends and participates in team meetings. Conducts ER/IEP meetings.
  • Administers standardized testing instruments to screen and evaluate students.
  • Enters student information into the state and local data system.
  • Understands state and federal regulations that govern Early Intervention & Special Education.
  • Maintain special education timelines for evaluation and service delivery.
  • Maintains progress monitoring data to share with families and administrators.
  • Writes evaluations reports, re-evaluation reports and IEP?s.
  • Completes MA billing monthly.
  • Provides a safe environment for the students; manages student behavior appropriately.
  • Assists families with transition to kindergarten activities.
  • Completes daily session notes to share with families.
  • Collaborates with parents, staff, and outside professionals.
  • Participates in staff meetings and professional development training.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor in support of the department's or school's goals and objectives and the District's mission and Superintendent's Priority Goals

Education Required

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Certification/Licensure Required

  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Instructional Certification in Teaching Speech to the Language Empaired
  • Pennsylvania Licensed Speech Pathologist

  • Experience providing Early Intervention services, especially in inclusive settings.

  • Ability to travel throughout the city if itinerant
  • Computer literacy

  • Strong organizational skills for handling a high volume of job related tasks in a very busy environment,
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Enthusiastic about the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district.
