Job Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) administers speech therapy services to patients according to the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Wyoming State Board of Speech‑Language Pathology Standards of Practice. The SLP evaluates assigned patients and establishes, implements, and oversees appropriate plans of care to restore and maximize the patients’ function and quality of life.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Practice in a safe manner that minimizes risk to patients, self, and others.
  • Perform patient evaluations and develop appropriate plans of care in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish appropriate and realistic short‑ and long‑term functional goals with the patient.
  • Administer effective and appropriate treatment interventions that are individualized and adjusted to the needs of each patient to meet their functional goals.
  • Select and use appropriate standardized tests and outcome measures to assess intervention results.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with patients, caregivers, and health‑care team members to promote optimal care and progress toward the patient’s functional goals.
  • Complete documentation related to Speech‑Language Pathology practice in a timely, legible, and regulatory‑compliant manner.
  • Supervise assistive personnel and students in a manner that assures safe and efficient care.
  • Attend meetings and serve on committees as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education / Experience / License and Certifications
  • Holds a master’s degree from an approved college or school of speech‑language pathology.
  • Current state licensure in Speech Pathology that meets the A.S.H.A. standard for Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Copies of all required A.S.H.A. documents, including the Certificate of Clinical Competence and the current certification card.
  • Current BLS certification.
Additional Skills
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Knowledge of equipment used in diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of speech pathology.
  • Ability to determine appropriate patient procedures and evaluate results.
  • Ability to maintain control and respond calmly and positively during crisis situations (e.g., Code Blue).
  • Appropriate telephone communication skills.
  • Performance of technical skills related to speech pathology.
  • Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and related impacts on rehabilitative medicine practice and equipment.
