Responsibilities

• Comply with Code of Conduct and hospital policies; report suspected violations.
• Perform evaluation and develop treatment plans based on age, culture, and rehab needs; align with licensing standards and Act.
• Provide effective therapy treatments.
• Delegate patient treatment procedures and modalities appropriately.
• Provide safe and comprehensive discharge planning.
• Ensure individual productivity meets departmental standards.
• Document patient care thoroughly and timely in the hospital system (HED).
• Assist with patient flow and scheduling; use available resources as applicable.
• Mentor and educate student interns as assigned.
• Participate in special department programs and interdisciplinary coordination.

Job Objective:

Implements treatment plans and selects modalities to meet specific established goals. Provides prescribed speech therapy treatment to facilitate the rehabilitation of mentally or physically handicapped patients. Assists in the evaluation of patient progress and recommends discharge planning. Conducts and assists with patient activities and maintains appropriate records.

Licensure/Certification:

Required: Licensed by the ST Board of State of California; American Heart Association BLS

Experience:

Preferred: Speech therapy or healthcare experience

Essential Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
• Performs evaluation and established treatment plans based on age specific, cultural, and rehabilitative needs and in compliance with hospital licensing and accreditation standards and in compliance with the Speech Therapy Practice Act.
• Provides effective therapy treatments.
• Consistently and appropriately delegates patient treatment procedures and modalities.
• Provides safe and comprehensive discharge planning.
• Individual productivity meets department standards.
• Provides thorough, timely, professional, and consistent patient care documentation through HED.
• Utilizes all resources to assist with patient flow as applicable (prints forms, schedules patients, etc.).
• Provides effective education and mentoring for student interns as assigned.
• Participates in special department programs.
• Facilitates interdisciplinary communication and coordination to maximize patient outcomes.
• Communicates positively, appropriately, and in a timely fashion to all communications including patients, co-workers, supervisors, other departments, physicians, etc.
• Maintains equipment supplies and treatment areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
