Job summary

Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, TX seeks a Speech Therapist to evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. Evaluates patients, participates in program development, and supports department initiatives.

The role requires a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, active license, CCC-SLP or CF eligibility, at least one year in a hospital setting, and current BLS. Employment is per diem with day shifts, 8-hour shifts 8:00am–4:00pm.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in speech-language pathology required.
• Active license to practice speech-language pathology in the state of employment required.
• CCC-SLP certification from ASHA, or SLP-CF eligibility with supervision considered case-by-case.
• At least one year of hospital experience.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct communication assessments and provide evidence-based therapy for speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in acute and medically complex settings.
• Provide cognitive-communication therapy targeting attention, memory, executive function, and problem-solving in patients with neurological conditions.
• Educate patients and caregivers on safe swallowing, communication strategies, and AAC system use to support functional outcomes.
• Treat patients across ICU and Inpatient Rehab addressing feeding, swallowing, congenital, critical care and other communication needs.
• Enhance quality of life and safety by supporting safe oral intake, restoring communication, and promoting cognitive-linguistic recovery.

We are seeking a Speech Therapist. As our Speech Therapist, you are responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating individuals with speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. Assists in developing and implementing new and ongoing programs beneficial for the enhancement of the department.

Responsibilities

• Conduct communication assessments and provide evidence-based therapy for speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in acute and medically complex settings
• Provide cognitive-communication therapy targeting attention, memory, executive function, and problem-solving in patients with neurological conditions
• Educate patients and caregivers on safe swallowing, communication strategies, and appropriate use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems to support functional outcomes
• Treat patients across ICU and Inpatient Rehab addressing feeding, swallowing, congenital, critical care and other communication needs
• Enhance quality of life and safety by supporting safe oral intake, restoring communication, and promoting cognitive-linguistic recovery

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited college or university with a master's degree in speech-language pathology required.
• Active license to practice speech language pathology in the state of anticipated employment, free of disciplinary action required.
• Active Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), free of disciplinary action - OR - Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellow (SLP-CFs) to be considered on a case-by-case basis (provided proper supervision can be afforded to the CF) required.
• At least one year of experience in a hospital setting.
• Current BLS for healthcare provider's certification upon hire and maintain current.
