Job summary

Dallas Medical Center in Farmers Branch, TX is seeking a Speech Therapist to evaluate, diagnose and treat individuals with speech, language, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders. This per diem role supports the Therapy department with day shifts from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, providing evidence-based therapy in acute and medically complex settings, educating patients and caregivers on AAC and safe swallowing, and supporting cognitive-communication

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology is required.
  • Active license to practice speech-language pathology in the state of employment with no disciplinary action.
  • CCC-SLP from ASHA or SLP-CFs considered with supervision if applicable.

Location: Dallas Medical Center – Farmers Branch, TX

We are seeking a Speech Therapist . As our Speech Therapist , you are responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating individuals with speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Conduct communication assessments and provide evidence-based therapy for speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in acute and medically complex settings
  • Provide cognitive-communication therapy targeting attention, memory, executive function, and problem-solving in patients with neurological conditions
  • Educate patients and caregivers on safe swallowing, communication strategies, and appropriate use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems to support functional outcomes
  • Treat patients across ICU and Inpatient Rehab addressing feeding, swallowing, congenital, critical care and other communication needs
  • Enhance quality of life and safety by supporting safe oral intake, restoring communication, and promoting cognitive-linguistic recovery
Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in speech-language pathology required.
  • Active license to practice speech language pathology in the state of anticipated employment, free of disciplinary action required.
  • Active Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA), free of disciplinary action – OR - Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellow (SLP-CFs) to be considered on a case-by-case basis (provided proper supervision can be afforded to the CF) required.
  • At least one year of experience in a hospital setting.
  • Current BLS for healthcare provider’s certification upon hire and maintain current.
