Burnsville-Eagan-Savage District 191 is seeking a Head Coach for the Speech Team to lead coaching efforts, assist with hiring and developing assistant coaches, and coordinate team activities across events, practices, and competitions. The role supports student participation in co-curricular activities and aligns with district policies.

The stipend is Winter stipend with a compensation of $3800. The position interacts with the Athletics Office and booster club to manage budgets and fund raising

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and administering the coaching of the speech team.
• Assist the head coach, student activities staff, and athletics director with hiring, development, and evaluation of assistant coaches.
• Plan and supervise the team at events, practices, and competitions.
• Coordinate budget requests, spending, and fundraising with the Athletics Office and booster club as needed.
• Coordinate practice and competition schedules with the head coach and other programs.
• Enforce rules of the league and district, model discipline and sportsmanship, and manage penalties.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the head speech coach.

Position Overview: Head Coach - Speech Team

Length of stipend: Winter stipend

Compensation: $3800

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist in all matters pertaining to the organization and administration of coaching the speech team.
• Assist the head speech coach, student activities, and athletics director with hiring, development, and evaluation of assistant coaches as necessary.
• Assist the head speech coach in planning and supervising the team to and from all events, practices, and competitions.
• Work with the head speech coach, athletics director and booster club (if in existence) on specific budget requests and spending, as well as, fund raising as needed.
• Coordinate practice and competition schedules with the head speech coach and with the Athletics Office and coaches from other programs.
• Enforce and model discipline and positive sportsmanship at all times and establish and manage penalties along with the head speech coach for breach of such standards by individual students.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the head speech coach regarding the program.

Specific Responsibilities

• Enforce all rules of the Minnesota State High School League and ISD 191 as they pertain to the respective sport or activity.
• Follow athletic department policy in ordering equipment, uniforms, and supplies for the program.
• Assist Athletics Office to maintain complete and accurate records needed to participate in MSHSL sponsored athletics.
• Assist the head speech coach in preparing and maintain a roster of all team members, including grade level, team level, and positions.
• Report and document with an injury report form all major student injuries immediately to the Athletic Trainer and the Athletics Office.
