Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health seeks a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to deliver patient-centered therapy under the Department Manager/Director. The role involves responding to changing assignments and ensuring regulatory compliance in care delivery.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology (Doctoral preferred) and will assess, treat, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health opened its doors this April as the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 25 years! Integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8, this enhanced integrated delivery system will establish a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. Our advanced hospital will offer 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, onsite 550-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We Are Seeking An Experienced Speech Language Pathologist (Part-Time/Days)

Our ideal candidate will work under the direction of the Department Manager/Director to fulfill the needs of patients, families and community by providing speech therapy services in accordance with their licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. Responds effectively to new and changing work assignments. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs: selects, administers, and interprets appropriate evaluation procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of growth and development over the life span necessary to provide age appropriate care.
  • Demonstrate the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patients’ needs.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
  • Make initial assessment and determine appropriate rehab needs of assigned patients, as evidence by appropriate documentation.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessment on all assigned patients, as evidence by appropriate documentation.
  • Develop, implement and modify appropriate long and short-term treatment plans/intervention programs.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation, including evaluation reports, treatment plans/notes, and discharge reports.
  • Participate in programmatic development and implementation.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage general full-time caseload.
  • Educate patient and family members regarding evaluation findings and management recommendations; develops and instructs patients and family members in home programs as appropriate.
  • Provide in-services within the department, institution, professional and community.
  • Participate in department activities including, student affiliations, education of physicians and other clinical disciplines, mentoring volunteers, etc.
  • Perform all other job duties/assignments as assigned.
