When it comes to speech and language barriers, you’re a bridge fostering communication and enabling individuals to express their emotions, thoughts, and needs. As a Speech Therapist, you’re a valued member of our rehabilitation team planning, organizing and coordinating therapy and care for all types of communication and swallowing disorders and difficulties. You plan, organize and coordinate speech therapy goals in consultation with other disciplines/professionals to help your patients regain as much independence as possible.

You know that your value can't be measured solely in terms of improved speech or language skills. But, while you focus on improving pronunciation or correcting speech impediments, in your book of speech pathology etiquette “who dat sayin’ dey gonna beat dem Saints’ is the perfect universal language in the Big Easy. Your Everyday

  • Deliver clinically appropriate evaluation and therapy services to patients who present with disorders of communication and swallowing.
  • Evaluate and provide treatment for developmental disorders, clinical dysphagia, modified barium swallow study, speaking valve and oral motor disorders.
  • Deliver clinically appropriate evaluation and therapy service.
  • Ensure evaluations are timely and accurate.
  • Document hearing status of patient.
  • Obtain prescriptions for current speech therapy patients, prior to expiration.
  • Request for Medicaid authorization/insurance renewal is submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Comply with all established policies and procedures on a departmental, rehabilitation and hospital wide level.
  • Facilitate the organization’s compliance with JCAHO, CARF, OSHA, HIPPA, and ADA guidelines.
  • Supervise the activities of students, clinical fellows, and volunteers, as directed by the leadership and within the licensure regulations.

The Must-Haves

Minimum

  • Master's degree in speech pathology.
  • Licensed speech therapist through the Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • 1 year of experience in speech pathology.
