Job summary

GBMC HealthCare's Milton J Dance Rehabilitation Center seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist (PRN Pediatrics) to provide clinical services for pediatric inpatients and outpatients, including infants and children, at GBMC facilities.

The role offers a starting rate of $51.00 per hour and requires a Master's in SLP and Maryland licensure. You will evaluate, treat, and document dysphagia, speech, language and cognitive disorders, with strong collaboration across care teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
• 1 year directly related experience in a medical setting. Focus should include pediatric speech-language and pediatric swallowing disorders.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and treats speech, language, cognitive, swallowing and voice disordered patients with neurologic etiology.
• Provides evaluation and management for all patients with dysphagia. Evaluation techniques include clinical evaluation, Modified Barium Swallow and FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of the Swallow).
• Satisfies departmental clinical productivity requirements.
• Participates in interdisciplinary patient care conferences.
• Documents services rendered including written patient evaluation, reports and patient progress notes on patient's chart.
• Consults with other professionals as appropriate and generates appropriate referrals.
• Conducts demonstrations and lectures within and outside the hospital.
• Assists with cataloguing and interpreting all video fluoroscopic swallowing studies within the department.
• Conducts quality assurance studies in conjunction with the Speech Pathology Clinical Manager.

Job description

Education

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.

Experience

1 year directly related experience in a medical setting. Focus should include pediatric speech-language and pediatric swallowing disorders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge in speech pathology theories, practices, and techniques.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Ability to administer, score and interpret standardized speech, language and cognitive tests in order to delineate patient deficit, establish diagnosis and develop treatment plans with progress documentation.

Licensures, Certifications

Certification of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and a State of Maryland License in Speech-Language Pathology.

Physical Requirements

• Audio‑visual acuity to be able to read small print and perform perceptual diagnostic assessments. Ability to reach, stoop, crouch, walk and stand.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to radiation in acceptable amounts as monitored by a qualified laboratory.

Pay Range

30.06 - 49.29

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
