Job summary

St Joseph's Health and Trinity Health in Syracuse, NY, is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to provide swallowing and communication therapies, with one weekend per month.

Requirements include NY licensure, ASHA CCC, and experience with MBS, electro larynx, and tracheostomy valves for neurologically impaired patients. Supervision is provided by the Service Coordinator or Manager.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ASHA-approved speech-language pathology program and eligible for NY licensure.
• Current ASHA CCC and NY state licensure or eligibility.
• Experience with swallowing evaluations/therapy and communication assessments for neurologically impaired populations.

Responsibilities

• Administer swallowing evaluations and therapy programs.
• Perform communication evaluations and therapy for medically fragile patients.
• Collaborate with staff under supervision of Service Coordinator or Manager.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

• Graduate of a speech-language pathology program approved by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Currently licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of New York. Currently maintains the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s Certificate of Clinical Competence. Experience with Modified Barium Swallow, electro larynx, tracheostomy speaking valves and augmentative communication equipment. Experience administering clinical swallowing evaluations/therapy programs and communication evaluations/therapy for neurologically impaired and medically fragile populations. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise as applicable, including but not limited to:

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Clinical setting.

Physical Demands:

• Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

Supervised By:

Service Coordinator or Manager

Supervises:

Speech-Language Pathology students, after one year clinical experience.

Pay Rate: $50.00/hour

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
