The Speech Pathologist Role and How You WILL Make a Difference

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) assesses, plans, and executes treatment plans specifically designed for individuals with autism. The SLP ensures adequate treatment across basic functional communication programs based on verbal behavior strategies and augmentative and alternative communication devices. Some specific duties include:

  • Assesses individuals as part of an interdisciplinary team to develop effective treatment goals to increase receptive and expressive communication
  • Provides speech and/or language therapy in small group and individual sessions to improve communicative functioning
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AACs) and provides training to employees and parents on using and maintaining developed communication systems
  • Provides ongoing training to employees on the functional implementation of communication training programs and the use of AAC programs
  • Consults with employees on a weekly basis to ensure communicative programs are being implemented with fidelity
  • Documents, records, reviews, and assesses client data to develop case formulations to document client progress
Who We'd Love to Join Our Team

The Carmen B. Pingree Center is Utah’s leading autism program for the treatment of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our Center utilizes ABA Therapy (applied behavioral analysis) to structure specialized curriculum and treatment.

For this role and program, we are looking for someone compassionate in listening to, working with, and advocating for those in need. In addition to sound time management and organization skills, they would need:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Previous experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder
  • Speech-Language Pathology license in the State of Utah

*Due to our commitment to client health and federal mandates that govern our services, we require all employees to attain the COVID19 vaccine within 30 days of employment (provided free of cost if needed).*
