Position Details

Fulltime/1.0FTE/40 Hours a Week/Holidays and Weekends Required

Position Summary

The purpose of the Speech Language Pathologist position is to perform evaluation and treatment techniques within the principles of the Code of Ethics of the American Speech Language Hearing Association, and under physician referral for inpatients. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups: pediatric (infant to 12 years), adolescent (13 to 17 years), adult (18 to 64 years), and geriatric (over 64 years).

Essential Functions
  • Evaluate patients' history and level of functioning to determine appropriate diagnosis.
  • Interpret evaluation findings to the patient, family, and significant others.
  • Develop appropriate treatment goals and make recommendations regarding treatment programs.
  • Implement therapy programs, maintain accurate documentation, and re-evaluate and update therapy plans as needed.
  • Participate with a multidisciplinary team in all aspects of treatment, including family conferences, home programming, support, and education.
  • Ensure compliance with billing and reimbursement procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Quality Assurance plan for Speech Services.
  • Supervise graduate students in Speech Pathology as assigned.
  • Assist in developing departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide staff consultation and participate in staff development activities.
  • Attend and document participation in staff and mandatory training programs.
  • Achieve goals set in performance reviews.
Secondary Functions
  • Perform basic housekeeping, supply, and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in transporting and directing patients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from ASHA and PA licensure.
  • CPR certification.
  • Must obtain CCC and PA licensure within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in acute care, including ICU, VFSS, and FEES training.
  • Experience with both adult and pediatric acute care settings.
