Job Description

Qualifications

Must have valid PDE certification as a Speech & Language Therapist
Master's degree in Communicative Disorders
Must have ASHA CCC's
Must have ability to bill for Medical Assistance
State License requirements
Has documentation of 18 hours of direct on‑site observation by supervisor and documentation of 18 other contacts (telephone conversations, records reviews, IEP reviews, video observations of therapy)
Holds certification by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) in speech/language pathology
Has at least one year of supervised work experience in the field of speech/language pathology
Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required
Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide speech/language therapy services
Complete evaluations and maintain compliance with all paperwork for a caseload of school‑age students
Identify all children in the public schools who have speech and/or language problems according to State and Federal Special Education regulations
Complete diagnostic assessments of all speech and language problems
Provide prevention, remedial, and/or maintenance services to children with speech and/or language problems according to Special Education regulations
Work with Child Study teams and Multi‑disciplinary Evaluation teams in planning educational strategies
Serve as a resource person to building staff members
Arrange opportunities for consultation to parents and teachers
Maintain accurate records of all consultant and therapy services provided. Complete IEPs and other records as requested by the District
Conduct in‑service programs for other school personnel
Provide information programs for parent/teacher, and community groups
Participate actively in Norristown Area School District’s educational program development and improvement
Upgrade clinical and case management skills
Perform other duties as assigned
