Job description

Company Description

BrainTools is a specialized pediatric therapy center dedicated to helping children develop the language, cognitive, and executive skills that support successful learning.

Since 2001, our clinical approach has integrated research from speech-language pathology, neuroscience, cognitive science, and educational psychology to better understand how children learn and how therapy can support that learning. We work with children with a range of speech, language, literacy, and language-based learning needs, including children with learning differences who may need support with oral language, reading, writing, executive function, or speech sound development. Our speech-language therapy program goes beyond isolated skill practice. Treatment is individualized and designed to help children develop underlying cognitive-linguistic skills while learning to apply those skills meaningfully in communication, academics, and everyday life.

BrainTools is also committed to developing clinicians. Our team works collaboratively to translate research into practical clinical tools, thoughtful treatment plans, and engaging therapy experiences for children and families.

Role Description

BrainTools is seeking a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) who is excited to work with children and interested in developing strong clinical skills within a specialized pediatric practice. Working under the direction and supervision of licensed speech-language pathologists, the SLPA will implement individualized treatment activities targeting areas such as oral language, speech sound production, literacy-related language skills, and executive function as outlined in each child's treatment plan.

As part of a highly collaborative clinical team, the SLPA will also have opportunities to participate in research-to-practice initiatives, including piloting new clinical programs, tools, and approaches and contributing to the process of translating research into structured, meaningful clinical practice. This provides an opportunity to see how new ideas are developed, implemented, evaluated, refined, and integrated into treatment. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLPA who wants more than simply following a set of therapy activities. We are looking for someone who is curious about how and why treatment works, interested in the application of research to clinical practice, values feedback and mentorship, and wants to grow within a thoughtful and collaborative clinical environment.

Qualifications
  • Florida Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant certification or eligibility to obtain certification in accordance with Florida requirements
  • Experience working with children in a clinical, educational, or therapeutic setting
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and strong follow-through
  • Strong interest in continued professional growth and developing clinical knowledge and skills through supervision, mentorship, and collaborative learning
  • Interest in research-to-practice work, including how clinical ideas and evidence-based approaches are piloted, evaluated, refined, and applied in practice
  • Interest in pediatric speech-language pathology, language and literacy development, learning, cognition, and child development
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are highly valued given the families and community we serve in Miami
