Role Description

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) will support licensed Speech-Language Pathologists in providing play-based, individualized speech and language therapy to pediatric clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, conducting therapy sessions focused on articulation, language, and communication skills, and documenting progress in accordance with clinic standards and regulatory requirements. The SLPA will collaborate closely with supervising clinicians to adjust goals and activities, prepare therapy materials, and help maintain an engaging, child-centered environment. The role involves ongoing communication with parents and guardians to share updates, model strategies for home practice, and encourage family involvement in the therapy process. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Long Beach, CA.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Speech and Articulation to support children’s sound production and overall speech clarity.
• Ability to implement Speech Therapy techniques and strategies under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Strong Communication skills, including the ability to explain therapy activities and progress clearly to children, families, and colleagues.
• Knowledge of Communication Disorders and related developmental needs in pediatric populations.
• Current California SLPA license or eligibility to obtain licensure, in accordance with state regulations.
• Experience or training in pediatric, play-based, and family-centered therapy settings is highly beneficial.
• Capacity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and follow clinical protocols and ethical standards.
• Reliable organization, documentation, and time management skills to manage caseload and session schedules.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant studies or a related field, as required by California licensing guidelines.
