Job summary

Tri-County Healthcare is seeking a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to deliver home health services in Harlingen, TX. The role focuses on feeding, swallowing, and communication, working with patients and families in their homes according to individualized plans of care.

The candidate will assess, treat, and educate, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining documentation and quality standards. A flexible part-time schedule is available to support patients’ needs.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university
  • Active Texas state license as a speech-language pathologist
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA (CCC-SLP)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Driver's license (required)
  • Car insurance (required)

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled speech-language pathology services per patient plan of care.
  • Conduct evaluations of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing abilities.
  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide therapy to improve communication and swallowing skills.
  • Educate patients and families on therapy activities and home programs.
  • Monitor progress and adjust treatment as needed.
  • Document evaluations, interventions, progress, and services.
  • Collaborate with physicians, caregivers, and team members.
  • Supervise SLPAs per regulations.
  • Participate in continuing education and payer requirements.
  • Evaluate feeding and swallowing in children and complete feeding assessments.

This position involves working with patients and families in the home, following an individualized plan of care, and collaborating with the healthcare team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide skilled speech-language pathology services in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
  • Conduct evaluations and assessments of speech, language, communication, cognitive, and swallowing abilities as appropriate.
  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and progress.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve speech, language, communication, cognitive, and swallowing skills.
  • Educate patients, caregivers, and family members on therapy activities, home programs, safety, and strategies that promote communication and independence.
  • Monitor patient progress and response to treatment and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Accurately document evaluations, interventions, progress, and other services provided.
  • Communicate and collaborate with physicians, caregivers, SLPAs, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to SLPAs in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards.
  • Participate in continuing education and maintain compliance with applicable regulations and payer requirements.
  • Evaluate children with feeding, swallowing, and oral-motor difficulties.
  • Complete comprehensive feeding and swallowing assessments.
  • Identify concerns related to chewing, swallowing, oral-motor skills, food textures, and feeding behaviors.
  • Provide individualized feeding therapy to improve safe and functional eating skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Speech-language Pathology from an accredited college or university
  • Active Texas state license as a speech-language pathologis
  • Certificate of clinical competence from American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
  • Proof of current CPR certification.
  • Drivers License (required)
  • Car Insurance (required)
Skills:
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
