Job description

Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 (based on experience)

Description

The SLP will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess, develop, and implement appropriate inter-disciplinary Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students. The student population primarily includes non-verbal and non-ambulatory individuals with brain injuries or brain-based disorders. The role involves participating in research efforts related to students and organizational research initiatives. Successful candidates demonstrate strategic focus, leadership, innovation, effective communication, and accountability.

Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate students' functional status using standardized assessment tools on evaluation, quarterly, and as needed.
  2. Establish treatment goals based on parent input and clinical decisions.
  3. Plan, implement, and modify POC based on assessments and treatment outcomes.
  4. Prepare and update IEPs promptly.
  5. Coordinate treatment strategies with the interdisciplinary team.
  6. Educate patients, families, and caregivers to improve care and outcomes.
  7. Participate in team meetings and conferences.
  8. Document treatment sessions, reports, and student-care forms accurately and timely.
  9. Engage in research activities as appropriate.
  10. Collaborate with the educational and therapy team, including special education teachers and therapists.
  11. Work with parents to involve them in their child's progress.
  12. Design lessons/treatment plans using a multi-sensory approach, incorporating art, music, and technology.
  13. Attend and participate in mandatory training sessions.
  14. Assist in developing educational modules for staff training and accreditation.
  15. Maintain a safe, clean, and confidential environment following regulations.
  16. Perform other responsibilities related to service delivery, research, and education as organizational needs dictate.
  17. Prepare session notes daily.
  18. Report seizure-like events promptly, including media if applicable.
  19. Participate in Grand Rounds, including preparing slides, attending training, and presenting quarterly.
  20. Attend iBRAIN Innovation meetings thrice a year.
  21. Support RAs/Paras in understanding IEPs and formulating research questions.
  22. Complete annual research integrity training.
  23. Identify knowledge gaps annually for continuing education.
Qualifications
  1. Valid NYS SLP license or eligibility.
  2. Two years of pediatric clinical experience with children having brain-based disorders preferred.
  3. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Initiative, flexibility, and ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  5. Detail-oriented, motivated, team-oriented.
  6. Research experience is a plus.
  7. A sense of humor is essential.
