Did you hear? Victory Learning Center at Ridge and Victory Learning Center at Martin are expanding and opening new classrooms!

Victory Learning Center is expanding, and we need compassionate Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) to support our students! Our programs offer specialized educational services for students diagnosed with Autism or Cognitive Disability paired with mental health diagnoses. We have two sites in Lackawanna, NY, serving students ages 5-21 who are residentially placed or referred through their local school district's Committee on Special Education.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible to: Lead Principal, School Age Division

Job Summary:

Seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to work with students aged 5-21, primarily diagnosed on the Autism spectrum, with mental health and behavioral concerns, and developmental or intellectual disabilities. The SLP will collaborate with educators to plan and implement tailored therapeutic interventions, creating a supportive environment to promote expressive and receptive language skills. The role involves providing individual and group therapy based on IEP needs in various educational settings.

  • Review documentation, including IEPs, scripts, and evaluations before treatment.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Provide direct speech therapy services, both individual and group, following professional standards.
  • Monitor progress, adjust therapy plans, and provide parent/caregiver education and home programs.
  • Submit weekly notes and billing as required.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively to enhance treatment.
  • Maintain accurate schedules and documentation.
  • Perform evaluations as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with families.
  • Stay updated on legal, ethical, and agency standards.
  • Engage in professional development and continuing education.
  • Train and support staff in language-building strategies.
  • Implement AAC systems for non-verbal or limited verbal students.
  • Create visual and activity schedules as needed.
  • Discontinue therapy when eligibility criteria are no longer met.
  • Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA/FERPA and agency policies.
  • Follow dress code and attend CSE meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Certifications Needed:

  • Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped Certification in NYS
  • Valid NYS SLP Licensure
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License

Training Requirements:

  • Continuing education as per NYS guidelines
  • SCIP-R
  • CPR

Physical Requirements:

Primarily sedentary with occasional light physical activity. Includes sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and other physical tasks as needed.
