Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Current state license in Speech-Language Pathology.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for screening, evaluation, and treatment of facility patients/residents needing Speech Language Pathology services.
• Reviews medical information and conducts screenings prior to evaluations to determine patient need for services.
• Performs evaluations under physician order and develops a treatment plan.
• Implements treatment plan through direct treatment and education of staff.
• Supervises speech therapy staff and participates in continuing education.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient, facility, and physician information.
• Maintains accurate billing information daily, and participates in interdisciplinary meetings.
• Attends family meetings and adheres to documentation requirements.
• Conducts staff training and reviews Rehab policies and procedures.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Job description

The Speech and Language Pathologist must: have a Bachelors and/or Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology, have a current state license, have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate competency in therapy treatment and evaluation principles, techniques, materials, and equipment utilization, and demonstrate knowledge of state and federal accreditation standards.

The Speech and Language Pathologist:

• • Assumes responsibility for the screening, evaluation, and treatment of facility patients/residents needing Speech Language Pathology services
• • Reviews medical information and conducts screenings prior to evaluations to determine patient need for services and ability to benefit from skilled services
• • Performs patient’s evaluations under physician order and develops a treatment plan in accordance with patient’s needs
• • Implements treatment plan through direct treatment, education of treatment staff, and supervision of speech therapy staff
• • Assumes responsibility for continued professional growth and development by participating in continuing education programs and other appropriate learning experiences
• • Maintains confidentiality of all patient, facility, and physician-related information
• • Maintains accurate billing information, in accordance with procedures, on a daily basis
• • Attends and participates in interdisciplinary meetings, as appropriate, to relay clinical findings and recommendations to other members of the rehab team
• • Attends and participates in family meetings, as appropriate
• • Adheres to documentation requirements of the Rehabilitation department and the facility
• • Conducts staff training/education, as appropriate, via formal and informal in-services and consultations
• • Reviews and follows the policies and procedures outlined by the facility and Rehab Policy and Procedure Manual
• • Supervises non-professional staff, as appropriate
