MedStar Health is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP Outpatient) to join our Therapy - White Plains team. The role includes screening, evaluation, treatment planning, implementation, and discharge planning across outpatient settings, with emphasis on patient and family engagement.

You will contribute to program planning, documentation, and collaboration with the care team, maintaining high-quality, evidence-based services and continuing education to advance clinical expertise.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Completion of CFY.
  • Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in MD, DC, and/or VA as required for location.
  • BLS certification.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation services, including review of history, assessments, and documentation of results; explain findings to patient and family.
  • Implement treatment protocols based on evaluation results; consult with other professionals and modify plans as needed.
  • Complete discharge planning and maintain accurate documentation of care.
  • Demonstrate time management and productivity; ensure accessible, empathetic patient care.
  • Pursue continuing education and serve as a clinical instructor/mentor.

About this Job:

MedStar Health is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP Outpatient) to join our team atTherapy - White Plains!

The Speech-Language Pathologist provides speech-language pathology services, with services to include screening and evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, treatment re-assessment and revision, patient/client reevaluation, discharge planning, and documentation in a variety of settings. The Speech-Language Pathologist participates as requested in program planning and protocol development and assists the team in meeting established goals.

Primary Duties:
  • Provides evaluation services including review of pertinent historical information, performance of specific assessments, and determination of recommendations and documentation of results. Explains evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and incorporates patient and family in the goals setting.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in implementation of treatment protocols based upon evaluation findings, the patient‘s presentation, and the evolving health care environment. Consults with other healthcare professionals as indicated. Recognizes and documents changes in patient‘s condition requiring modification of the plan of care and/or the need for medical/rehabilitation consultation.
  • Completes appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care. Accurately and timely documents and charges for patient care activities considering our evolving health care environment, painting a clear picture of the patient‘s course of care including focused initial evaluation/plan of care that establishes baseline and goals, daily encounter notes, interim progress summaries, and discharge evaluation.
  • Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations. Manages an accurate schedule. Demonstrates a professional commitment to provide frictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and actions/behaviors that display empathy in our patient consumer driven environment.
  • Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and organization. Serves as a clinical instructor to assign students. Assists with orientation and mentoring of new staff, students, and volunteers.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Speech Language Pathology.
  • Completion of clinical fellowship year (CFY).
  • Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in Maryland, District of Columbia, and/or Virginia required as deemed necessary for your specific location(s).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • ASHA (American Speech Language Hearing Association) Certificate of Clinical Competence.
