Overview

Evaluates and treats patients of all ages. Serves as a role model in delivery of professional services and as a clinical resource for staff and students.

Qualifications
  • Education: Master's Degree in Related Field
  • Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist (Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Attend and satisfactorily complete all required continuing education regarding the care of acute stroke patients.
Responsibilities
  • Collect case history information and integrate information from patients, family, caregivers, teachers, relevant other professionals, and other professionals. Select and administer appropriate evaluation procedures to meet patient needs. Recognize the needs, values, preferred mode of communication, and cultural/linguistic background of the patient, family, and caregivers.
  • Conduct assessment procedures for speech and language pathology. Select or develop and use appropriate materials and instrumentation for prevention and intervention.
  • Develop and implement a setting–appropriate plan of care with measurable and achievable goals that meet patients’ needs. Collaborate with patients and relevant others in the planning process.
  • Interpret, integrate, and synthesize all information to develop a treatment plan and make appropriate recommendations for intervention.
  • Evaluate patients with speech and feeding related impairments.
  • Administer standardized testing to assess level of function compared to age‑related norms.
  • Assess feeding and swallowing impairments.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home programs and activities.
  • Coordinate with pediatric PT/OT on treatment interventions.
  • Complete daily documentation and charging in therapy EMR.
  • Complete annual requirements as per therapy clinical ladder for senior status which includes supervision of students, completing an approved project, and one in‑service training.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $35.14 per hour – $60.44 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
