Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)

An ideal relief candidate would be an SLP with level 1 trauma experience and at least 5 years of SLP experience. Candidates with less than 5 years of experience or limited acute care experience (e.g., a few years at a community hospital or a new graduate) should have at least 3-4 days of weekly availability for onboarding and training.

Brief Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist II is an experienced therapist competent in all duties of a Speech Language Pathologist I, with additional expertise in evaluating and developing treatment plans for complex patients across a wide age range and diagnoses. Responsibilities include conducting clinical and instrumental swallow examinations (videofluoroscopy and flexible endoscopic swallow evaluations). The SLP II actively participates in multidisciplinary team discussions, recommends treatment plans, and serves as a clinical advisor to less experienced therapists. Supervises patient care responsibilities of interns, assistants, and aides, and contributes to program development and departmental policies. Completes required training and in-service programs.

What You Will Do
  1. Perform all essential functions of Speech Language Pathologist I with a focus on complex patient populations.
  2. Evaluate and treat patients with complex speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallow impairments, including instrumental assessments.
  3. Develop and present in-service training (at least annually).
  4. Implement and adapt therapeutic interventions based on patient needs, utilizing clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  5. Contribute to staff education and serve as a resource.
  6. Support clinical research initiatives.
  7. Mentor and serve as a role model for less experienced staff.
  8. Lead patient care conferences and collaborate with other care providers.
  9. Participate in performance improvement activities and departmental policy development.
  10. Identify equipment needs and make procurement recommendations.
Education Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved Speech Language Pathology program with a Master's or Doctorate degree.
Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of clinical practice as a Speech Language Pathologist (including as a Clinical Fellow).
  • Five years of experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Instrumental Swallow Assessments (VFSS and FEES).
  • Certification in MBSImp.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $57.48 - $76.14 per hour. The final salary will be based on various factors, including experience, education, and specialty. This pay scale is not a guarantee of wages.
