Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Qualifications:

1. Educational Background: Master’s degree from an accredited program in speech pathology or its equivalent
2. Certification: Must possess a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC/SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or be eligible for a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). CFYs are encouraged to apply
3. Licensure: Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as a speech-language pathologist or CFY in the state of Florida
4. Experience: Prior experience in speech therapy is required; experience in skilled nursing facilities (SNF) is preferred
5. Professional Membership: Active membership in state and national American Speech and Hearing Associations is a plus
6. Interpersonal Skills: Strong administrative and public relations skills to effectively engage with patients and staff
7. Therapeutic Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of speech therapy principles, methods, materials, and equipment
8. Safety Awareness: Knowledge of potential hazards during treatment and the necessary precautions to ensure patient safety
9. Collaborative Spirit: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and medical staff
10. Communication Skills: Capable of understanding and interpreting physicians’ directions to recommend appropriate treatment programs
11. Emotional Stability: Demonstrated ability to manage the demands of patient care and team dynamics
12. Confidentiality: Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of patient and employee information
13. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of Medicare and third-party reimbursement, clinical experience in dysphagia assessment and treatment, and familiarity with Net Health
