Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide comprehensive evaluations and treatment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential healthcare setting in Harlingen, Texas. This full-time, onsite role involves evaluating, diagnosing, developing treatment plans, and delivering therapy.

Qualifications

  • Current Texas licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • CCC-SLP certification is preferred.
  • Experience evaluating/treating speech, language, cognition, and swallowing.
  • Strong knowledge of dysphagia assessment and intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive‑communication, voice, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop individualized habilitative and rehabilitative treatment plans based on clinical assessments.
  • Provide direct speech-language pathology services to individuals with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes accurately within the EHR.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, dietitians, psychologists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate, train, and provide guidance to caregivers and staff regarding therapeutic techniques, treatment recommendations, and communication strategies.
  • Monitor implementation of therapy recommendations to ensure compliance, effectiveness, and quality of care.
  • Develop, revise, and improve treatment protocols and therapeutic programs based on clinical outcomes and best practices.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives related to speech‑language pathology services.
  • Support organizational emergency response, disaster recovery, and Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities as needed, which may require alternate work schedules or work locations.

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Assignment Length: Monthly contract with option to renew
Location: Harlingen, Texas (Onsite)

Position Summary

We are seeking a licensed Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide comprehensive speech, language, cognitive‑communication, and swallowing evaluations and treatment services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential healthcare setting.

The SLP serves as the clinical expert for speech‑language pathology services and is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, developing treatment plans, and providing therapeutic interventions for individuals experiencing communication disorders, cognitive‑communication impairments, dysphagia, and swallowing disorders. This role works closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to improve communication abilities, maximize functional independence, and enhance quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive‑communication, voice, and swallowing disorders.
  • Assess oral, pharyngeal, and esophageal function to identify communication and dysphagia‑related impairments.
  • Develop individualized habilitative and rehabilitative treatment plans based on clinical assessments.
  • Provide direct speech‑language pathology services to individuals with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes accurately within the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, dietitians, psychologists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.

Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in the State of Texas.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) preferred.
  • Experience evaluating and treating speech, language, cognitive‑communication, and swallowing disorders.
  • Strong knowledge of dysphagia assessment and intervention techniques.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in residential healthcare, rehabilitation, long‑term care, or state‑supported living environments.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary treatment planning and quality improvement initiatives.
