Pay Range: $57,576 to $102,384 based on years of certified experience and level of education

Schedule: M-F 7:45am to 3:30pm; Summer ESY is optional and is paid extra in-additional to salary

POSITION SUMMARY: The Speech Language Pathologist provides speech and language therapy services to students as indicated in their Individualized Education Program (IEP). This includes conducting evaluations, assessments, analyzing data, writing reports, and determining the strengths and areas of concern or need in speech, communication, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills that will help students to participate in their education process to their maximum capabilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide speech and language therapy to assigned students in a classroom-based (integrated model) setting by working with the classroom staff to practice, elicit, and develop effective communication skills.
  • Provide small-group and individual speech and language services by planning lessons and activities individualized for the skill level of the students to target goal-specific skills identified in the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Participate in data review, Pre-IEP, and IEP meetings by identifying skill deficits, recommending assessment needs, consulting with and assisting the IEP team, including teacher, clinicians, parents, school districts, in the development of the communication goals.
  • Conduct evaluations, including but not limited to trials for communicative devices, social communication needs, formal and informal assessments, etc., utilizing the established re-evaluation (RR) process to identify speech/language needs.
  • Assist with the use of augmentative and alternative communicative devices (AAC) through trials, programming devices, training students, staff, and families on the use of devices, etc., to assist with achieving progress toward IEP goals.
  • Provide materials, training, and staff in-service regarding communication needs of our varied student population.
  • Complete all documentation and/or share recommendations related to IEP development, progress monitoring and data collection, Re-evaluation Reports (RR), Behavioral Support Plans (BSP), School-Wide Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems (SWPBIS), and Extended School Year (ESY) Program, as required by Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) regulations and sending-district's policy and funding requirements.
  • Adhere to PDE established timelines relating to all required documentation.
  • Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification in Speech Instruction or Speech Communication.
  • Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license.
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certification (CCC).
  • Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) considered.
  • Experience working with both verbal and nonverbal students (ages 3-21 years) in Autism Support, Emotional Support, and Life Skills Support programs.
  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, and equipment, including low to high technology AAC devices, used in individual and group treatment of a wide variety of speech/language disorders.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current diagnostic and assessment tools available for use with students with speech/language impairments.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
  • Non-profit human service experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions.
  • Must be able to perform CPR using agency-trained protocols.
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook.
  • Experience using/knowledge of electronic student or health record preferred.
  • Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record.
