Speech-Language Pathologist | PRN in Mobile

Location: Mobile, Daphne, Fairhope

This is a PRN SNF Speech-Language Pathologist position in Mobile, AL. Please apply at this link to confirm that this is an active listing.

The Staff Speech-Language Pathologist shall provide quality speech/dysphagia evaluations and treatments to patients with communication and/or swallowing deficits, and participate in departmental operations as assigned by the Clinical Director.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
  • Identify, assess, and treat individuals of all ages with communication/dysphagia disorders.
  • Manage and supervise programs related to human communication disorders.
  • Counsel individuals with disorders, their families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding their condition and management.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Communication and hearing skills necessary for evaluating and treating speech/language disorders.

SPECIAL DEMANDS:
  • Desire to work with individuals with physical, mental, or developmental handicaps.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology for understanding prescriptions and communicating with physicians and staff.
  • Experience with video fluoroscopic evaluations and dysphagia therapy is preferred.
  • Ability to work with individuals of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's or doctoral degree, Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA, and Alabama State License.

TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, OTHER:

Completion of clinical fellowship year or supervision by a certified speech pathologist is preferred. COVID vaccination is preferred but exemptions are considered.

WORK PERFORMED:

Provide treatment under the direction of the Clinical Director, based on written physician prescriptions.

MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Screen, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, dysphagia, and cognitive/communication disorders.
  • Develop and train in augmentative and alternative communication systems.
  • Maintain records, discharge planning, and documentation of treatment progress.
  • Conduct staff and nursing in-service programs as needed.
