This is a PRN SNF Speech-Language Pathologist position in Fairhope, AL. Please apply at this link to confirm that this is an active listing.

The Staff Speech-Language Pathologist shall provide quality speech/dysphagia evaluations and treatments to patients with communication and/or swallowing deficits, and participate in the departmental operations as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Responsibilities
  1. Identify, assess, and provide treatment for individuals of all ages with communication/dysphagia disorders.
  2. Manage and supervise programs and services related to human communication and its disorders.
  3. Counsel individuals with disorders of communication, their families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding the disability and its management.
Physical Demands

Communication and hearing skills necessary for evaluation and treatment of speech/language disorders.

Special Demands
  1. Desire to work with people with physical, mental, and developmental handicaps.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology to understand prescriptions and communicate with physicians and staff.
  3. Experience with video fluoroscopic evaluations and dysphagia therapy is preferred.
  4. Ability to work with individuals of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics.
Qualifications

Master's or doctoral degree, Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA, and Alabama State License.

Additional Requirements

Completion of clinical fellowship year preferred or supervision by a licensed speech pathologist with ASHA certification. COVID vaccination is preferred but not mandatory, with exemptions considered.

Work Performed

Provide treatment based on written prescriptions from a licensed physician under the direction of the Clinical Director.

Major Tasks
  1. Screening, assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of speech, language, and oropharyngeal disorders.
  2. Development and training in augmentative and alternative communication systems.
  3. Record keeping, discharge planning, documentation, and staff training.
