Job summary

HCA Florida South Shore Hospital is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for PRN opportunities. You will evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders within a collaborative rehabilitation team.

The role emphasizes evidence-based care, patient-centered planning, and clear documentation. You will plan and deliver medically prescribed therapy, maintain timely notes, and support safe, effective patient progress.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
  • State of Florida Speech Language Pathologist license required.
  • Current BLS through American Heart Association required.
  • CCC awarded by ASHA.
  • Experience in healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and administer assessments to identify speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing issues.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely.
  • Educate patients and families on therapy goals and home strategies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, rehab staff and care managers to support coordinated care.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Speech Therapist (SLP), you'll help patients improve their communication, cognitive, and swallowing abilities through skilled, evidence-based care. Your role is key in helping patients make progress and independence while working closely with a supportive, collaborative rehabilitation team. We are currently looking for an ambitious Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As our Speech Pathologist you will plan and administer medically prescribed treatment programs for the rehabilitation of speech, language, cognitive, and oral motor disorders. Duties and Responsibilities
  • You will evaluate the patient’s condition, obtain case history, and administer diagnostic tests to determine the nature and degree of speech and language problem.
  • You will establish, implement, and modify treatment plans, in accordance with hospital/department policies and procedures, scope of practice and standards of practice.
  • You will determine when patient progress and goals have been met or medical necessity no longer warrants intervention.
  • You will establish provisions for continuing services and make referrals to other professionals regarding patient care as necessary.
Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
  • State of Florida Speech Language Pathologist licensed required.
  • Experience in appropriate healthcare setting preferred.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required through American Heart Association.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) awarded by the Speech Language Hearing Association.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills; ability to read/comprehend written instructions; ability to follow verbal instructions; PC skills.
Your Role Will Include
  • Evaluating communication, cognitive, and swallowing abilities using structured assessments, standardized tools, and clinical observation.
  • Developing and adjusting individualized treatment plans that support communication clarity, safe swallowing, and functional progress.
  • Documenting evaluations, daily notes, progress updates, and discharge summaries with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Educating patients and families on therapy goals, safety recommendations, home strategies, and expected progress.
  • Collaborating with physicians, nursing teams, rehabilitation staff, and care managers to support coordinated care and smooth transitions.
What Qualifications You Will Need
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP).
  • Master’s Degree.
