Job summary

Sunnyside-Presbyterian-Home seeks a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to join our healthcare team on a PRN basis, assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and swallowing disorders across diverse residents.

We offer an opportunity to contribute to an innovative and supportive environment, with pay in the $55–$60 per hour range and a focus on compassionate, resident-centered care. Licensure in Virginia required or eligible for licensure.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Virginia.
  • CCC-SLP preferred or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • CPR certification current or able to obtain within timeframe.
  • Knowledge of evaluation and treatment techniques for speech and swallowing disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate residents to identify speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication, and swallowing impairments.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and establish diagnoses based on findings.
  • Develop and modify individualized treatment plans to meet residents' goals.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve communication, language, voice, cognition, and swallowing.
  • Educate residents and families on techniques, exercises, and safety for swallowing.

Speech-Language Pathologist (PRN - as needed)

Pay Range: $55 - 60 /hour

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will play a vital part in assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders across diverse patient populations. Qualifications
  • Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) preferred or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within established timeframe.
  • Knowledge of current speech‑language pathology evaluation and treatment techniques, including dysphagia management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team while providing compassionate, resident‑centered care.
Requirements
  • Evaluate residents to identify speech, language, voice, cognitive‑communication, and swallowing impairments.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and establish appropriate diagnoses based on clinical findings.
  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans to address each resident's functional goals and rehabilitation needs.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve communication, speech production, language skills, voice quality, cognitive function, and swallowing abilities.
  • Educate residents in techniques and exercises to improve speech clarity, voice production, fluency, and safe swallowing.
  • Establish measurable treatment goals and regularly assess resident progress, modifying interventions as appropriate.
  • Monitor swallowing function and recommend appropriate dietary modifications, compensatory strategies, and adaptive techniques to promote safe oral intake.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation professionals, dietary services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to coordinate resident care.
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans, communication strategies, swallowing precautions, and home exercise programs.
  • Provide counseling and support to residents and families coping with communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, care plans, and discharge summaries in accordance with facility policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
  • Participate in care conferences, interdisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, facility, and professional practice standards, including patient confidentiality and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the rehabilitation department and resident care services.
